How Do I Drive Employee Engagement on a Company Blog?

This week on Social Brand Chat presented by KXIC we discussed a question via Twitter from Mike Gerholdt: “How do I drive employee engagement on a company blog?” As we’ve discussed before, your employees are one of your organization’s greatest marketing assets — especially when it comes to content marketing. However, many struggle when it comes to leveraging this asset. Let’s chat about this.

As we’ve discussed, content marketing is on the rise. One of the chief forms of content marketing for many organization’s is the tried and true company blog. Keeping this rich content hub up to date is no small undertaking. That’s why organizations need to incorporate the insights and subject matter expertise of additional team members. Marketers often cite the challenge of getting other employees off of the bench and into the game. We discussed a few strategies to help including simply asking them clearly for what you need, choosing your words carefully, and employing an audio/video assist.

For this week’s social media news, we discussed some startling new data from Ignite Social Media which reports that Facebook pages have seen an average 44% decline in reach since the platform rolled out their new algorithm on December 1st.  This is extremely unsettling news for brands that have spent years developing large audiences only to have the organic reach steadily decline with each new tweak of the algorithm. We’ll keep an eye on this one for future discussion.
