This week on Social Brand Chat presented by KXIC we discussed a question from our recent Content Marketing Boot Camp in Madison: “What does the expression ‘everyone’s a publisher’ really mean?” This phrase gets tossed about cavalierly but how do you break it down beyond general theory? Let’s chat about this.

Among the many opportunities that digital marketing presents is for brands of all shapes and sizes to become media platforms. Google’s Zero Moment of Truth data tells us that online shoppers are now searching for twice as much information as they were just a few years ago. Your customers will find this information somewhere but if you can provide this helpful content in the form of blog posts, podcasts, and more, you’ll be a step closer to winning the hearts and minds of your community.

For this week’s social media news we discussed Facebook’s latest attempt at unseating Snapchat’s rapid adoption among teens, their new Slingshot app (TechCrunch).

Speaking of taking your digital marketing to the next level — Registration is open for this year’s Social Brand Forum at the Iowa River Landing. The Midwest’s premier digital marketing event features keynotes from Chris Brogan, Ann Handley, John Jantsch, Jason Falls, Joe Chernov, Kerry Gorgone, and more.
