The epic series finale of Breaking Bad is near and fans are waiting in anticipation to see how the series will draw to a close. While Sunday’s episode marks the end of the AMC drama, fans will now have the opportunity to continue their relationship with the show by following in the footsteps of Breaking Bad’s characters – literally – thanks to Foursquare Cities.

Foursquare, the social network built on users checking in to locations they’re visiting and sharing relevant tips with others, has nailed it with the Breaking Bad Location List they’ve assembled. Fans can now easily find locations from the show throughout Albuquerque including Jesse Pinkman’s Duplex, Saul Goodman’s Office, and Los Pollos Hermanos.

This clever bit of newsjacking from Foursquare gets four enthusiastic thumbs up from our team. Here’s why:

  1. It’s timely – Foursquare didn’t come out with this list after the show’s finale. They came out in the perfect storm when fan excitement is at an all-time high (no pun intended).
  2. It’s relevant – We’ve all seen brands who jump on a current event, yet have little reason to do so. It works for some, but for many, it just doesn’t make sense. This list only starts to show how their platform can be used.
  3. It’s engaging – Highlighting the platform’s abilities in this big way could lead to new interest among users and advertisers – audiences Foursquare and founder Dennis Crowley have been trying to appeal to for many years now.
  4. It’s eye-opening – By setting up prominent example, users and brands can start to imagine other ways to use the Foursquare Cities tool. We won’t be surprised if we start seeing lists for historic buildings, wedding venues, and more!

While most users won’t make the trek across the United States to check in for some Breaking Bad blue ice candy from The Candy Lady, rabid fans of the show are sure to check it out and check in. We’ll be anxiously waiting to see if traffic spikes for the social network. After the finale is over, of course.

How could your brand use Foursquare Cities?
