This week on Social Brand Chat presented by KXIC we discussed a question from Derek Overbey submitted via Facebook, “What’s the best social network for retail business?” This is a timely question for many with the holiday season on the horizon. Let’s chat about this.

Like many questions in digital marketing, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to which social network you should use — even for retail. It’s more important to answer several critical strategic questions to help you make a decision on what works best for you and your community. Who are you trying to reach? What are you trying to get them to do? A high-end fashion boutique might enjoy Instagram’s visual appeal while a mainstream retailer might find Facebook’s advertising options to be a better fit. Listen to the show to hear the rest.

For this week’s social media news we talked about Facebook’s recent update that just took effect that essentially outlawed “like-gating” for contests on the social network. Get the full story on what this means and what you need to do from our friends over at Hubspot.

Do you have a question about social media you’d like answered? Ask in the comments below, on our Facebook page, or on Twitter using #SocialBrandChat. Check out previous episodes of the Social Brand Chat podcast here.
